Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Challenge

The organisers of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials chose DBpixelhouse as their key technical partner for the third consecutive year in 2019. Set in the picturesque grounds of Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire—the leading equestrian event is attended by around 170,000 people over the course of four days and broadcast live on national television and online by the BBC. Show-critical network connectivity and site-wide IPTV services were required to ensure visitors could always keep an eye on the action, wherever they may be.

Solution

Because the successful running of the show and live feed for the BBC relied on a stable and continuous network connection, there was no room for error. DBpixelhouse used industry leading equipment by Cisco, Ruckus and Exterity to ensure 100% uptime throughout the event. IPTV systems powered by Exterity distributed live and pre-recorded content around the event site, managed from a central control centre where a live events tv director from DBpixelhouse routed the appropriate content to different areas. Interactive content curated by DBpixelhouse promoted the sponsors of Land Rover Burghley during breaks between the action.

Result

The meticulous work undertaken during the planning and installation process periods paid dividends with a fault-free show period. Over 60 screens around the site relayed live footage of the equestrian event, with DB connectivity also providing VOIP telephony and Wi-Fi over a 3500M2 area. In addition to the hospitality screens, DB also provided three large outdoor LED screens—helping to ensure no visitor to Burghley Horse Trials was ever far away from the action.

Testimonial

“We chose DBpixelhouse to be our technical partner at Burghley because they came highly recommended. Their wonderful ‘can-do’ attitude was easy to see right from our first conversation. Being a live outdoor event, the requirements are always changing. Having a technical partner with the agility to respond to last-minute changes is essential. No matter what challenges we’ve thrown at DB, they have literally moved heaven and earth to find a way to make it work and deliver what we require.”
