We at DB understand the importance of supporting charity in aid of others and we continue to make it a part of our business culture. Friday the 28th of September saw the Biggest DB Coffee Morning in aid of the MacMillan Cancer support charity. Many of us know a family member or friend who has been affected by cancer. Whether they have been diagnosed with cancer, undergoing treatment for it, or are in remission, we at DB understand the difference this charity can make, and we understand the importance of funding them to help make that difference.
“Cancer can hit anybody or any family at any time. We never know when we will need the support of Macmillan or the help of their amazing nurses, so it’s a very worthwhile cause.”
DB staff turned to master bakers for the event, bringing in an array of goodies to sell on behalf of Macmillan. Among these tasty treats were cakes of all varieties, brownies, shortbread, Victoria sponge, rocky road, vegetarian sausage rolls and of course, Coffee. We also played games such as place the cherry on the cake, a baking take on pin the tail on the donkey, and guess the length of the veggie roll.
By supporting this event and raising money, Macmillan will be able to continue a number of invaluable services. Funding will go towards Macmillan nurses and their effort to assist those in need. It will also provide vital and helpful information to unsettled minds, whilst providing the necessary financial support. The money raised will support the Macmillan Support Line to help them to be there when people need them most and so no one has to go through this terrible experience alone.
All in all, the Biggest Coffee Morning was a great success and we had a lot of fun raising money for a worthwhile cause. I would like to add a big thank you to Judith for organising the event and to anyone who brought in or baked cakes. Together you made it a tasty, fun and successful morning, all in the name of Macmillan Cancer Support. Gratitude must also be given to everyone that donated to the cause and to know that together we are helping make an important change. We look forward to the next coffee morning, where we will hopefully raise even more money, but in the meantime, we will be raising money for Wear It Pink, in aid of breast cancer, on the 19th of October.
