Design Agency Cook & Associates teamed up with DBpixelhouse to supply technology and production management services for one of Qatar Airways leading global marketing events at ITB in Berlin. With just seven weeks between the brief and the opening day, communication and teamwork proved to be key, ensuring we met Qatar’s exceptionally high standards for their two stands at Europe’s premier travel show, which attracted more than 120,000 visitors over 5 days.
Exhibition and Event Solutions
DBpixelhouse Technical Director Graham Croucher fulfilled the role of Production Manager on behalf of Cook & Associates—managing all aspects of technology on both stands, including AV technology, digital content, lighting, power distribution and network connectivity. Graham was a key member of the on-site management team, ensuring the project was delivered on-time and on-budget. The main exhibition stand was 190M2 and featured an LED crown on all four sides, made up of 500 panels of 3.9mm LED tiles. Media servers, PA kit and a kabuki drop system were also supplied by DBpixelhouse. The stand contained numerous meeting rooms where the Qatar CEO held meetings and lunch/dinner receptions. A smaller exhibition space, away from the main stand, showcased the airline’s exclusive Q suite seats on their planes. Visitors enjoyed an example of Qatar’s first-class travel experience, with an LED screen backdrop simulating movement of the plane.
When the show initially opened, the Qatar stand was draped off, with no indication of what was behind the covers. At 09:30, the curtain fell to the ground, thanks to an elaborate kabuki system and the stand was revealed. The unveiling was greeted with cheers and amazement from a large crowd which had gathered to see Qatar’s latest offering. In addition to the event technology on the stand, DBpixelhouse created a green screen area, where visitors had their picture taken in various Qatar destinations, before sharing them on social media with an event specific hashtag. Qatar’s senior management team were delighted at how Cook & Associates and DBpixelhouse created their most technologically advanced space at ITB yet.
