Cheltenham Racecourse has more than 70 different indoor and outdoor hospitality areas in use during the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival. The venue management at the Jockey Club were keen to appoint a supplier with experience of working on large-scale sporting events, who could manage the network of TV screens around the venue.
DBpixelhouse supplied over 300 screens, and managed the venue owned system for 16 race days throughout the National Hunt season. A week-long site survey shortly after the contract was awarded allowed us to assess the existing infrastructure, before installing an additional 20km of cabling to establish a reliable network through which we sent audio and video signals around the racecourse. On race days we took a TV feed from the broadcaster and routed it to the screens around the venue. All preparation work was done with not only the upcoming season in mind, but thinking ahead to subsequent years, ensuring the best value for money for the Jockey Club.
Working to the client’s brief, we developed a fully-managed AV solution for Cheltenham. With a dedicated Account Manager assigned to the project and on site for the show days, there was one point of contact for the client. Our Senior Project Manager was based on site throughout the build and show days, managing a team of more than 20 specialist technicians. Come rain or fine weather, we ensured that racegoers could watch the action, wherever they chose to.
“When it comes to massive events lie the Cheltenham festival, technology is about more than just the equipment itself; it’s about having an experienced team, and the knowledge of those delivering the project. Event Industry News spent some time at Cheltenham and we were amazed at the quality and high standards on display around the whole venue. DBpixelhouse have shown that their team is world class and can deliver complex and technically challenging projects at large sporting events.”
