Sibos is the premier global banking event. The organiser Swift, choose a wonderful island-based venue in Osaka, Japan, however, it didn’t have internet connectivity, an issue for such a highly technical event. Swift needed a trusted partner who could supply internet (hardwired network and Wi-Fi connections) and AV & IT across the venue for over 8000 delegates and exhibitors.
18 months before show date DB were awarded the contract for connectivity and all event AV & IT, multiple site visits followed with Swift and key partners Mayridge and Jack Morton.
Connectivity and security were paramount to event success, so the technical project planning team built in two independent ISPs each with a 1GB internet line which were physically and technically independent. The networks utilised both fibre optic and copper network cabling and were managed through 2 Network Operating Centres (NOCs).
Our pre-production team managed the logistics for over 500 separate AV and internet access orders, as well as a full spares inventory with international connectors for just about any situation!
The DB team installed the networks first, followed by AV – building from the ground up. In all we supplied approximately 400 hard wired internet connections for the Organiser, contractors and exhibitors. The Wi-Fi catered for 8,000 visitors. The AV installation was hundreds of screens, computers, printers and LED walls.
A team of over 30 DB Account Managers, Project Managers, Technical Team members and Event Technicians were on site in Osaka managing the installation, show production and delivering all round customer service.
Swift, the organiser, brought together a team, Mayridge, Jack Morton, DB and others, that pulled together in the best traditions of the events industry. It was a brilliant effort by everyone and probably the most satisfying event we have been involved in.
